THE BOOK UNFOLDED:
WHO LOVES THE SUN?

You dispel a skein of cloud.
You’re fierce, then you’re tired.
You were in the position of perpetual commentary.
You’re bent to a book as the uprising unfurls.

EPISODE NOTES

Visiting poet Lisa Robertson's archive revealed to me what historian Arlette Farge called "The Allure of the Archives." I encountered something nostalgic, Farge found something beautiful. We both encountered surprises. This episode also looks at literary critic Terry Castle's addiction to home décor magazines, like Nest magazine, and her mixed feelings about their allure. Part of this story is about a ribbon, and Robertson’s “The Ribbon” is a nice coda to this episode.
